Violin, Viola & Cello Instructor
Kendra Osterhout has been playing the violin since she was six years of age. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Duquesne University’s Honors College in May 2007. While in college, Kendra performed in master classes for world-renowned musicians Gwen Thompson, Arnold Steinhardt, Sidney Harth, and the Orion and Cassatt Quartets.
In addition to performing with multiple symphony orchestras and chamber music ensembles in the Pennsylvania’s Greater Pittsburgh Area, Kendra enjoys playing with multiple bands in live shows and on recorded albums. These include the Gremlins & Butterflies, Mandrake Project (with Rick Nelson from the Polyphonic Spree), Ben Hardt and His Symphony, from Pittsburgh, PA and Head Like a Kite from Seattle, WA. Ben Hardt’s studio recording incorporated the Red Head Quartet, the string ensemble with which Kendra studied and performed throughout her last year of undergraduate studies. RHQ also recorded Andrew Vernon’s Reflections on the Color Green and performed Dmitri Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 4 in A minor in recital with cellist Dawn Candlish at Duquesne University.
Kendra collaborated with Andrew Vernon, in September of 2005, in writing and recording music for a film score for the Lake Erie Film Festival Run & Gun Production, Artisan of Tangibles. She will be recording again in collaboration with Andrew in the soundtrack for a feature film, I Wish, in the summer of 2008.
In her most recent performance, Kendra joined Andrew Vernon for the Premiere of Andrew’s composition for violin and piano, A Tendency Toward Change. The performance was a part of a Composition Student Recital that took place November 2, 2007 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. At Reeder Music Academy, Kendra is an instructor of beginning and intermediate cello, and all levels of violin and viola.
