Make Music A Part Of Your Life!
Andrew Ferren
Woodwinds & Piano instructor
Andrew Ferren is a musician, producer, and teaching artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Andrew began his study of music with piano at an early age.  About 4 years later he began playing the saxophone, followed by flute and clarinet in high school.  During this time he also began writing music and arranging for small jazz groups while beginning his professional career as saxophonist and band leader.
Mr. Ferren continued playing and studying music after moving to Seattle, where he studied Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music and was hired to play in bands throughout the area.  He accelerated his path of musicianship when he moved to New York City to attend the New School University, where he completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz and Contemporary Music.  There he studied with saxophone legends George Garzone, Chris Cheek, Jane Ira Bloom, Jim Snidero, and Reggie Workman.

During his career Andrew has performed with Lou Rawls, Dave Weckl, Eddie Daniels, Shigeto, and Liberty Ellman to name a few.  Continuing to grow and explore sonic spaces on saxophone, keyboards, flute, clarinet, electronics, and laptop since arriving in San Francisco in 2007, Andrew has had the honor of performing with many great musicians and bands throughout California and the West Coast at venues as venerated and varied as Yoshi’s, Great American Music Hall, Slim's and The Independent.

Along with being a performing musician and producer, Mr. Ferren has been teaching lessons on saxophone, piano, flute, clarinet, music theory, and music software to students of all ages and abilities for over 17 years.  While focusing on building a firm foundation through fundamentals of the instrument, Mr. Ferren reinforces the students learning and growth by encouraging students to set goals, and at the same
time making music fun and engaging.
