Charles Gorcynski 
Woodwinds & Piano instructor 
Charles Gorczynski (B.A. Jazz Studies, DePaul University) is a dedicated teacher of the saxophone, flute, clarinet, and piano. An experienced and energetic teacher, Charles has over 10 years of full-time teaching experience with students of all ages. He teaches both classical and jazz styles from a professional perspective, bringing practical expertise from the recording / performing world to the classroom.

An active performer and recording artist, Charles has contributed to over 40 albums and has led tours of the United States, Canada, and Italy with several of his own projects. His compositions have been released with the record labels 482 music, Ropeadope, Serein, and a variety of local outfits. Charles leads the Redwood Tango Ensemble and his own jazz quartet, co-leads the creative ensembles Colorlist and Strongsender, and has performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, San Jose Chamber Orchestra, California Symphony, Matt Ulery’s Loom, and Tomorrow Music Orchestra.

Charles has studied jazz theory and woodwinds with many accomplished musicians over the years, including Mark Colby, Peter Ballin, Larry Novak, Bob Palmieri, Rick Germanson, and Berkeley Fudge. He has also studied composition with several of the current generation of Argentine tango composers: Ignacio Varchausky, Diego Schissi, Ramiro Gallo, and Pablo Aslan. Charles has recorded or performed with Phil Woods, Slide Hampton, Jeff Parker, Scott Amendola, Charles Rumback, and shared bills with Kenny Werner, John Hollenbeck, Michael Blake, and many others.
